Editorial Standards

The written policy every editor follows when reviewing submissions, blog posts, and corrections. Public so you can hold us to it.

What we accept

  • Free-to-play or free-tier browser games playable without downloads or client installs.
  • Games with a working landing page and a real, live client (no vaporware, no "coming soon").
  • Submissions with an original, substantive description (400+ characters) that accurately describes the game.
  • Screenshots and banners from the game itself, not stock art or generic key art unless clearly tagged as such.
  • Games in any genre - strategy, MMO, idle, text-based, RPG, casual - as long as the site is safe and functional.

What we don't accept

  • Explicit sexual content or games behind adult-content gateways.
  • Real-money gambling or crypto casino games marketed as browser games.
  • Games that require a payment before the player can meaningfully play (free-tier is fine, hard paywalls are not).
  • Sites that primarily serve as affiliate funnels, referral farms, or crypto airdrops.
  • Content that promotes hatred, harassment, self-harm, or illegal activity.
  • Copied, spun, or AI-generated descriptions that don't add editorial value.
  • Duplicate listings for the same game (whether or not the owner is the same person).

Review process

Every new listing goes through a three-step human review within 48 hours of submission. Rejected submissions receive a specific reason via email and can be re-submitted after the issue is fixed. Approved submissions appear on the toplist immediately.

  1. Playability check. The editor loads the game URL and verifies it starts a playable session without a paywall or gated beta.
  2. Accuracy check. The editor compares the submitted description, screenshots, and banner to the actual game and rejects anything misleading.
  3. Content check. The editor confirms the site does not violate the "what we don't accept" list above.

Corrections policy

If you spot an error on any page - wrong genre, dead link, outdated description, incorrect fact in a blog post - use the contact form. We aim to fix or respond within 48 hours. Every correction is logged with the date and the field changed; significant corrections are noted at the bottom of the affected page or article.

Conflict of interest

Editors are not permitted to submit or vote for games they have a financial stake in. Sponsored placements (Premium and Promoted) are billed and displayed automatically; no editor decides who gets promoted. When we write about an advertiser in the blog, we say so explicitly at the top of the article.

Takedown & DMCA

To request removal of a listing you own but cannot access, or to file a DMCA notice, use the contact form and choose the "DMCA / Takedown" category. Valid takedown requests are actioned within 24 hours - the listing is removed pending investigation. Owners of removed listings can respond via the same form.

About BrowserGamesTop

We built BrowserGamesTop for players who miss the classic era of browser gaming, when you could find a great text-based RPG, mafia game or strategy MMO on a toplist and be playing a minute later. Each listing has a description written by the developer, screenshots, categories and a direct link to the game, so you can judge a game before you sign up.

Games are sorted into categories such as mafia games, RPG, strategy, MMO, idle and text-based games. Every new listing is reviewed by our team before it appears, which keeps broken links, copies and low-quality pages off the toplist.

How the Toplist Works: A Guide for Players

  1. Browse the rankings. The homepage shows the highest-voted games first. Open a category to find games in the genre you like.
  2. Read the game page. Every game has its own page with a full description, screenshots, tags and a Play button.
  3. Vote for your favourite. You can vote once every 24 hours for each game. Many games reward you inside the game for voting, for example with extra turns, cash or items.
  4. Discover something new. Some games have a "Discover another browser game" button that takes you to another game in our Game Traffic Exchange.

Guide for Game Developers

If you run a browser game, listing it on BrowserGamesTop is free. Create an account, submit your game with a description, logo and screenshots, and wait for approval. Once it's live you get a personal vote link to put in your game.

  • Vote rewards: add a callback URL and we notify your server every time a player votes, so you can reward them automatically.
  • Game Traffic Exchange: a 1:1 player swap. Every real player you send to another game earns you a credit, and each credit sends one new player to your game. Every approved game can join for free.
  • Premium and Featured listings: optional upgrades that give your game more visibility on the toplist.

Yes. Every game on the toplist can be started for free in your browser. Some games offer optional paid extras, which the developer explains on their own site.

How often can I vote?

Once every 24 hours per game. Votes are checked for bots and repeat voting, so the rankings reflect real players.

Why didn't my game reward me for voting?

Rewards are sent by the game itself. Make sure you clicked the vote link from inside the game while logged in, so the game knows which account to reward.

How do I get my game listed?

Register an account, open "Submit a game" and fill in the details. We review every submission, usually within a few days.

What does "Premium" mean on a listing?

Premium games paid to support the site and get a gold highlight and extra features. Rankings themselves are always based on votes.

Any tips for finding a good game?

Check the categories, read the description and screenshots, and look at how many recent votes a game gets. An active vote count usually means an active community.
