Frequently Asked Questions
Everything players and game owners ask us, in one place. Still stuck? Get in touch.
Is BrowserGamesTop free to use?
+
Yes. Browsing the toplist, filtering by tag, reading blog posts, and voting for games are all free and require no account. Game owners can create a free account to submit their game and reply to reviews. We fund the site through optional paid upgrades (Premium and Promoted) and display advertising - never through pay-for-ranking on the free list.
How does voting work?
+
Anyone can vote for a game once every 24 hours per game. Votes are anonymous but IP-limited - one vote per browser and IP address per game per day. You do not need an account to vote. The 24-hour cooldown resets exactly 24 hours after your previous vote, so if you vote at 14:00 you can vote again at 14:00 tomorrow.
How is the toplist ranked?
+
The main toplist ranks by total votes received during the current month. On the first day of every month, monthly counters reset to zero so newly listed games have a fair shot at the top. All-time totals are preserved on the game's detail page. See our full methodology at /how-we-rank.
What is a vote-back link?
+
A vote-back link is a shareable URL - like /vote/your-game-slug - that game owners can put inside their game or on their community page. When a player clicks it, they land on a single-purpose page that lets them cast one vote for the game. Vote-back links are the primary way game owners earn organic votes.
What is the difference between Premium and Promoted?
+
Premium ($15/month) adds a gold ribbon to your listing, a visual boost, and a small daily vote bonus. Promoted ($50/month) additionally pins your listing above the free ranking in the 'Sponsored' section on the homepage, which is where paid placements live. Both are optional and clearly labelled as paid. Neither can affect your ranking inside the free toplist.
Are sponsored games ranked higher on the toplist?
+
No. Promoted spots sit in a clearly separated 'Sponsored' section above the free ranking and carry a visible SPONSORED badge. They never influence the free ranking algorithm and their votes are counted in the same way as any other game.
How do I submit my game?
+
Register a free game-owner account, then use the Submit page. You'll provide a name, description (400+ characters), one banner (728x90), tags, and the URL to your live game. An editor reviews new submissions within 48 hours. Approved games appear on the toplist immediately.
Why was my submission rejected?
+
Common reasons: the game is not a working, publicly-playable browser game (no downloads, no gated betas), the description is thin or copied from elsewhere, the banner is misleading, the site is offline when we probe it, or the content violates our editorial standards (no adult, hateful, or deceptive content). You'll receive a specific reason via email and can re-submit after fixing the issue.
How do I get my game removed from the site?
+
If you are the game owner and have an account, delete the listing yourself from the game-owner dashboard. If you don't have an account (for example, another party submitted your game), send a removal request to us via the contact form with proof of ownership. We action removal requests within 48 hours.
How do I report abuse, a DMCA violation, or an unsafe link?
+
Use the contact form and select the appropriate category, or email us directly at the address listed on the Contact page. DMCA notices are actioned within 24 hours - the offending content is removed pending investigation. False takedown requests are logged.
How do I correct wrong information on a listing?
+
Owners can edit their own listings from the dashboard. If you're not the owner but see incorrect information (wrong genre, dead link, outdated description), send us a correction request via the contact form. Corrections are processed within 48 hours and every changed field is logged.
Do you accept adult (18+) or gambling games?
+
No. We do not accept explicit sexual content, real-money gambling, or games that require age verification to play. Games with occasional mature themes (violence, mild language) are accepted as long as they're playable without an adult content gateway.
How do you handle my data?
+
We store the minimum information needed to run the site - your email and hashed password if you register, and the IP + timestamp of each vote to enforce cooldowns. IP addresses are only used for anti-fraud on votes and are never sold or shared. See our Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
Do you use cookies or tracking?
+
Yes, minimally. We use one first-party session cookie for logged-in accounts, Google Analytics for aggregate traffic statistics, and reCAPTCHA v3 to prevent vote fraud. We do not sell personal data and we do not run cross-site tracking beyond these tools. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
How do I advertise on BrowserGamesTop?
+
For paid ranking placement, use Premium or Promoted. For banner advertising, contact us through the contact form with your budget, target audience, and desired placement (sidebar 300x250, mid-toplist 728x90, or vote page 300x250). We reply with a rate card within 2 business days.
What refund policy applies to Premium and Promoted?
+
Premium and Promoted are prepaid subscriptions. If a paid slot is not delivered for any reason on our side (site downtime, mis-configuration), we prorate a refund automatically. Voluntary cancellations mid-period do not receive refunds, but the paid features stay active until the paid period ends.
How do I contact the editorial team?
+
Use the contact form and pick 'Editorial'. For time-sensitive issues, mention the urgency in the message. We reply within 2 business days on average - faster for takedown or security-related messages.
